It was SO important to me to get to write an autistic MC in this fantasy novel because as a kid I felt like all fantasy heroes were super socially adept and able to navigate situations I could never get through. I wanted to write a hero who struggles to be seen and understood

It still really stings that my beautiful queer fantasy novel about family, trauma, and healing was absolutely buried by its publisher. Writing that book was an incredible experience. Watching it be treated like garbage was heartbreaking

Every time the Indie Next list picks are announced, I think about my last trad book and how my editor told me they wouldn’t be putting it forward for consideration on the list. I think it’s really great to have indie stores showcase books but folks should know there’s some gaming behind the scenes

I got to read an ARC of this book and I'm not quite done yet (it's long), but oh my gosh it is so fucking good. This is exactly the book my queer autistic soul needed. The worldbuilding is fantastic, the ethical problems are thorny, the interpersonal dynamics are complex, and it's! So! Good!

When you join a polycule and then later realize all the original people who were part of it when you joined are now gone, call that a relationship of Theseus.
