New content. Promotional brochure about the Model L Series modems. One could run at 1200B and the premium model at 2400B.

The Leading Edge Philosophy brochure presents the company's core belief that information, its gathering, processing, and open exchange, is the foundation of both its business success and its internal culture.

Got to thinking the other day about the website's dark mode switch and how generic it is. Ended up coming up with a DIP switch design that adds more functionality too. Each switch independently controls a video mode or they can all stack. The last switch of the DIP is a reset.

I had scanned a recently received brochure that has some highlighting on it. I noticed that the highlighting was interfering with text recognition, and it looked unsightly. Here I am using GIMP to remove the highlight from the scanned brochure, which improves text recognition too.

This is an important documentation one. The Operator's Guide and Technical Manual to the Model M computer. The guide has deep technical info, such as chip pinouts, block diagrams, and memory addresses. Re-post this one, it's rare and has a lot of valuable information in it.

New web-content alert! This is a rather rare piece to come across and I'm glad to have it in the collection. The DRC-1311 was a CGA monitor that was designed to be paired with the Model D. When set atop the Model D it dominates the machine.

New content alert! 🚨
Check out the restoration of a Leading Edge Fortiva 5000. It had a lot of issues: electrical, bent chassis, and a badly dented and scratched case. This thing was a lot of work and a study in patience.

Too much centralization on the internet these days. It has lost a lot of its soul.

Small thing today with a warranty certificate, but we are archiving everything that we can.
Next up is a big one with the Fortiva 5000 restoration. Look forward to it!

It's been a while since any new content has been posted to the website. This time of year, it's hard to find time to work on side projects. At any rate, this is likely the last for 2025 and is an image of the basic version of the Leading Edge Word Processor. Enjoy!

Here is a macro I took of a 1991 HP silicon wafer showing detail of one of the 150 memory chips that were never cut after photolithography was completed.

The color is not a filter but just how the wafer refracts light.

Remember this wretched piece of junk? After several months of putting it off, the total restoration is now complete. I had restored the internals and straightened out the chassis earlier, and finally got the case refurbished, removing deep dents and old paint and finishing up with a fresh paint job.

Newly posted restoration content. Recently, we received a CMC-1417AE VGA monitor that would not stay on. It was an easy fix, but getting to the faulty component was the most tedious part.

Whoa, look at what just arrived. We've been looking for one of these for a while. This is a DRC-1311 color monitor that was sometimes sold with the Model D. It's very rare because it was so much more expensive than the usual DR-1240 monochrome that is so ubiquitously associated with the Model D

New web content posted! The Fortiva 3000 was a rare late-model Leading Edge 486-based computer. Not much documentation about this computer is out there, but we can tell it was a budget-based computer intended to take up as little desk space as possible.

I never was a fan of the PS5 design. The new plates I pre-ordered back in May just arrived today. Gotta say it looks so much better.

Watching your Lisa teardown today, there are these offset screwdrivers that are really helpful for tight spots. I got these at Autozone or Advance Auto Parts.

I love to improve user experience and add new web features to the website. I've redesigned the restorations section to get rid of the multiple pages and will have it layed out like a book that you can thumb through. One minor bug to fix prior to rolling out later this week.
