It really doesn’t do it for me. And, yes, terrible time for country. I haven’t even attempted 80s jazz. My head would probably explode.

I think I listened to more 80s music in the last three weeks than I did in the actual 80s. It all sounds the same to me.

I’m listening again. I can definitely see how it could be called unlistenable, but it has this propulsive quality that keeps pushing me forward.

I think I must have gotten used to the ugliness. I don’t care for the Avalanche cover, so it makes for a rough start.

It is tough going. I will be selecting the albums that sound the least like the 80s. Big Science and Violent Femmes are a lock. I might surprise myself and go with Nick Cave. It’s an ugly album but it’s something different from the synths and jangly

I like Hoodoo , from what I just sampled. Not sure about Cocteau Twins, as I can’t even make it through their biggest album. Usually pretty okay with The Waterboys and Cole. Don’t know the Sound. Will check them all!.

Don’t think she made it to the finals for the 80s. I hope she does better this time around.

I had a lot of REM in the 80s. I don’t hate them but I don’t put them on much anymore. I grew out of them.

They were striving for the sound of the future and ended up with music that is very dated.

Holy smokes. That’s a massive list. Laurie Anderson’s Big Science is weird and wonderful. I also really enjoy Los Angekes by X.

I did find Metallica, Ozzy, Killing Joke, and Lauper in my CDs and the pretenders and The The in my records.

I don’t like the Smiths at all, but I love the Femmes. Where is your list? I could use some pointers.

A certainty for my 5.

Looked through the records for #5DebutAlbums8084 and came up with this comical mix. I have Boy and Murmur on cassette and From Her to Eternity, She’s So UnusuAl, and Violent Femmes on CD. I might find a few others but the early 80s are not my bag. Suggestions are welcome!

Another musical blind spot for me. This is going to be rough. Violent Femmes will be contenders but most 80s music leaves me cold! I’ll try to check out your picks!

#3 and #4 if I'm guessing. Lift to Experience is weird and kind of Jesus-y (from what I hear but I never listen to lyrics), but it works for me. And it's 134 minutes. I broke every rule on my picks.
