Girlfriend: “Portuguese sounds like Japanese Spanish.”

I don’t know why, but she’s exactly right.

The Cuphead Diet: you can’t eat until you complete a level of cuphead. Instant ketosis.

There’s going to be a brief window where shelves at major stores are bare, layoffs are hitting blue collar workers especially hard, and the market is in the gutter where the tide of public opinion against him might be great enough that billionaires will be willing to use their senators to impeach.

China should make reinstating DEI policy the sole condition to continue trading just to see what happens.

Teens will look you straight in the face and deadass say “back in the day” and they’re talking about 5 years ago.

Turns out the answer to the “Kamala they/them Trump you” ad was “Kamala Harris is for All/Us. Trump is for himself,” because that’s what’s happening (which was always obvious).

Whenever I read about the super prison in El Salvador, which is really like some big tents with a lot of barbed wire, it feels very opening scene of a batman movie before the super villain blows open the front door and sets them all free. Maybe we shouldn’t put all the evil eggs in one evil basket?

The right is freaking out because the federal budget went from $4.5T to $6.5T in about 5 years. We must be blowing money left and right on all kinds of stuff, right? Seems obvious, right?

You know what else happened in that time? The baby boomers started collecting social security and medicare.

1) Trading resources for weapons isn't crazy. It's just capitalism with fewer steps. All we're really negotiating is the price.
2) Trump will be dead and gone before they can fulfill that contract. You can't mine an active warzone.

The deficit is roughly $1.8T, and after all of these cuts to social programs keeping people alive, they’ve managed to get it down to… $1.8T.

Man, it truly is the most annoying time. I know its going to be a long hard few years — maybe longer — but I’m really trying to stay focused on the fact that it’ll end eventually.

If an AI company makes a really nice coding tool and then charges a lot of money for it, wouldn’t you just immediately use it to clone itself so you can use it for free?

In my experience as a dev using AI every day, with the current gen of tools, an experienced programmer working along side an AI agent can accomplish more than either individually. It makes a lot of mistakes, not always obvious ones, and even harder for the AI to catch without some guidance.

Don the Con got em good. High overlap between timeshare owners and Trump voters. I’d bet most of MAGA has bought a timeshare at some point in their life.

Can anyone explain why these tech oligarchs want to run government? Do they think they can create more happiness? Can they build a future with a higher quality of life for the average person? Their own quality of life is already superb. What is the vision?

This is a perfect example of how naive they are about government operations: what do they do if all of the ATC folks take the offer? There aren’t scores of ATC consultants just waiting to get in there that can do it cheaper and faster than the federal employees. Are you ready to fly with Ai ATC?

Twitter is bankrupt, can’t attract talent, not innovating, full of trash content, and hemorrhaging users. No one is impressed by anything he’s done there. It’s an embarrassment.

Is the answer going to be required upgrades for fire safety and flood protection? Metal roofs, cement siding, doors that seal in Florida. Those seem like insurable houses in a changing climate. Much like seismic retrofitting in CA, you’ll have disaster protection retrofitting.

Twitter replaced employees with cheap foreign labor. The US govt can’t legally fill a lot of positions with foreign labor. Surely they’ll obey the law. Surely.

One thing that's not clear about OpenAI vs Deepseek: Deepseek's full model requires an insane inference stack, something like 1.3TB of VRAM. I don't think OpenAI has ever revealed the full size of 4o or O1/3 but it's believed to be much smaller. So lower up front cost, much higher operating cost.

There has never been a better opportunity for Europe to close the tech gap. All they have to do is be in the ballpark of American salaries & offer remote work and 80% of US tech workers would be open to it. Highly specialized, experienced people that can turn the tide for Europes lagging innovation.
