When I produced TV news 20 years ago, it was always all caps, and judging by closed captioning (which for local TV news is fed by the teleprompter), it still is. It’s quite difficult to read on the fly, but I’m assuming she had a hand in writing this and added the emphases as reminders to herself.

I think the context here is that the parents are “mom and pop” landlords so it’s retirement income, but he phrased it so poorly that I’m just going to assume he means everyone should just spend their retirements living in a new home each month.

A coffee shop nearby went MAGA in 2020 and would post Facebook memorials for CBP deaths, always being so vague that commenters would assume they had been killed by border crossers. I would look up articles about them and 100% died of covid or in traffic accidents.

The ice plotline hasn’t happened yet and the reference to AI wasn’t positive—it came from the new boss who has visions of reform. In context, I assumed that we were supposed to hear that and roll our eyes at her.
