Today I just feel tired of everything. The news of the day feels like a footnote. I’ve a thousand things I want to do, but the effort of doing them feels insurmountable. I start, but I don’t feel the joy of doing… only frustration and despondence.

Today was my eldest’s last ever first day of school. (At least in the public education system)

Finally finished refurbishing the BBQ - unfortunately the maker is out of business, and the replacement burners didn’t quite fit - so had to do some makeshift fabrication.

When we did our renovations I did my best to map out which circuits controlled what in my house.
Then I realized I wrote the wrong thing next to one of the numbers.

Now I don’t trust anything I wrote down and have to go through the same process anytime I need to do electrical work 😄

😄 this is starting to take on the surrealism of Megan Amram during the first go-round!

These are the observations of someone who has been on vacation for 3 out of the last 4 weeks, and just got back to work an hour ago 😂

To be clear, the document is a professional profile of my credentials and experience, that I wrote. And colleagues who came in to tailor it for a specific purpose proceeded to change the spelling of my name at the top of the page.

For the first time in my life, I’m getting frustrated with people misspelling my name in a professional capacity. It’s not mispellings based on hearing it - It’s colleagues, misspelling my name in a 1 page document where my name is already present and spelled correctly in several places.

That’s certainly fair. I might think I would be well suited for polyamory, except for the overwhelming fear of disappointing multiple people at once 😂. (Partly a joke, but also very much partly not a joke)

Can I ask, do you understand jealousy? Something I realized awhile back that may be related is that I don’t understand it. I understand wishing I might be able to have or do something, but I don’t get negative feelings toward someone who has something that I don’t.

I met a friend I had known online for 15 years when I was in a work trip to Austin TX. A wonderful fantastic guy who showed me around the town, and would love to find the opportunity to meet up in person again.

Running headlong into the challenges of the lack of options to assist people with mental health issues who do not want that kind of support - and dealing with how those issues impact everyone around them.

Did this at the lake last year, was canoeing past a group shouting as they watched the game and asked them for the score. 😄

For my fellow mennos - don’t worry, yes I do get the guilty conscience for appreciating a song and group that has an extensive catalog of songs about war and a lot of glorification of that sort of thing.

But on the other hand the song is still (as the young folk say) a banger.

Random thought of the day - I would really love to hear a men’s choir, a big group of singers, in a stone cathedral with all the echoing, singing an acapella version of Sabaton’s Soldier of Heaven.
