The campaign to silence voices opposed to the Israeli govts genocide, starvation, and apartheid against Palestinians continues. The Murdoch rags promote hypocritical attacks on Grace Tame while ignoring the horror of the IDF reducing Gaza to rubble and slaughtering civilians.

We need more stories that help people learn from what’s working.

Not just what’s going wrong.
Not just what “has to happen by 2050.”

Real examples of action that others can see, understand & build on.

Ugh, yeah. Downplay scope 1-2 harms, overhype scope 3 potential benefits (and falsely take credit for non-LLM software benefits), don't say a word about scope 3 potential harms (such as accelerating propagation of climate denial/delay mis/disinformation). Just a transparently deceptive playbook.

Congrats on this important work! Really appreciate the thorough review & analysis. I know you know this, but one point that appears not to have made it into the report is that harm from generative AI (or any software) can be indirect (how it's used) as well as direct (how it's created and executed).

What we also found was, imo, kind of surprising - even the big IEA report last year into AI climate benefits relies predominantly on weak sources; overstating the potential climate benefits of AI by too-rarely leaning on reliable, tested, real-world demonstrations of tech deployment.

Last night on 7:30 I thought I picked up AT saying, in effect, that anyone on a visa could be deported. That would include permanent residents who have not taken citizenship. Dangerous territory.
