I'm not especially pro-surrogacy, it's not a subject I'm well-versed in, but to pose adoption as a simple alternative with no caveats is baffling to me if you supposedly care about exploitation and children's welfare?

"don't buy a baby, adopt" I genuinely mean this as non-judgmentally as possible, but basically all adoptions, if they're not through foster care or a kinship adoption, are buying a baby/child.

I get it. there's a plethora of media that use eroticism as fan service in ways that seem to undercut their themes and/or rely on underlying societal prejudices and objectification. but eroticism isn't the enemy. degrading it won't make art inherently more intellectual or substantial.

a scene or artistic choice that evokes sensuality, intimacy, and/or arousal doesn't mean it's asking you to turn your brain off and jerk off. eroticism can be complex, enriching, and thematic.

besides the fact that depiction of sex in art/stories isn't always meant to be erotic or titillating, there's also this conflation of eroticism and "braindead" sexual gratification that happens in discussion of sexuality in stories
