I am reading T. Kingfisher’s What Stalks the Deep and enjoying the hell out of it. She always makes me laugh even while the horror creeps slowly, inevitably closer.

This passage (no spoilers) is typical:

“That is horrifying and I want to go home,” I said, although I pronounced it, “Ah, I see.”

On this fine #Caturday, Brigitte Lin perches in her cat tree and gazes out the window hoping to see her fluffy white kitty “furrend” so she can make the appropriate greeting (hissing and yowling with much puffed up fur and slashing claws). As one does.

On the porch a stranger was eating the food put there for mister black by his family.” but the spellings are sometimes phonetic and use strange characters other than those of the standard Latin alphabet.

An unusual item in my collection, Mister Black’s Secret by Catherine Barr. At first it seems like an early example of cheezburger speech but it was actually written in a shortlived teaching alphabet called ITA.
