haha thank you, i don't know how! i'm not the most careful person and my case is a soft one. the pixel camera is just too good, wish they had kept their 3.5mms in later phones.

Sony Xperia 10 V - Full phone specifications

m.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_... these guys also stay at the same screen size across generations. hope you like it!

when my pixel 4a gives out (it's still going strong with everything working at 6 years old), i'm planning to get a sony xperia v. it's from 2023, has a 3.5mm port and fine camera, and is still a small size. the downside is it will probably not be offered w/ contract so you'll be buying outright.

my condolences. those planes look so good and are run so badly

I wonder what it's like being a CIA guy in a bar in rural Alberta and running into your FSB counterpart who's doing the exact same work

There were no good photos of old Breath Savers packaging so a Wikipedia editor created this digital illustration. I'm not EXACTLY sure why the background is this random dwarf planet but I think I quite like it

like, the federal government loves oil and gas now. they don't concentrate on any of the things these guys are upset about, they don't even really talk about alberta's assault on our public healthcare. all that's left for alberta separatism is becoming as vague as possible.

it's real stupid dov. there's equalization payments to lower-income provinces through the federal budget (alberta has the lowest taxes in the country, which these ungrateful fucks don't even bring up). and ottawa wokeness i guess?

thank you! that makes sense and i'm not interested in misrepresenting you. the difference is important to me after all, because it's important to enough occupied folks on the ground who can't be that scrupulous abt western support. again, i appreciate your work and share 99% of your anger here. thx!

maybe a loving dead jews moment, where someone being dead makes them seem a little extra jewish. also true for women, who when they die often get seen as more maternal.

yeah, but i mean i still appreciate how hard they work for the people they will stand up for, despite being hurt by some stuff they say. i am also not american, and have never lived in ukraine. i've got a big degree of respect to all who do good stuff irl.

love devon's work and the ratio, wish they meant this when they speak about ukraine too. "nothing would meaningfully change for me if the occupier of this faraway land stayed in power and won" is just something i can't forget about when i see this. but they're right, all this for anyone.

yea. in the same way that if a kid wanders out onto a freeway you need to grab them and get them out of traffic

A model train travelling through a dimly lit tunnel, as viewed from outside the tunnel. It has a variety of lights on and glowing brightly - headlight, mars light, emergency light, class lights, and number boards - and is reflective on the rails in front of it.

not only an amazing songwriter, but one of the best ever at naming songs

if i may use the dichotomy from your great article, i just find that the "technical" side of the convo can have a habit of rejecting something convenient without mentioning that there's a better alternative, like stop placement vs pedestrian accessibility/permeability. and that can silo us a lot

17.01.2026 00:01 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

that makes sense. i'm used to the fleet here in calgary that's heavy on these awesome little agile 21-seaters (still one operator in there, of course, you're right). in our advocacy, i'm less attached to close stop placement than mad that the way To the stops is so godawful.

16.01.2026 23:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

it's not a virtue to only be able to think in "guy who grew up in the great depression and keeps cash under his bed" mode, in my opinion. it's good to also be able to think another way

16.01.2026 23:44 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

transit advocacy/best practices often feel so at home in the trade-offs of the turbo-underfunded present that they struggle to imagine good standards of service, even when they're very possible under a budget that actually values transit.

16.01.2026 23:40 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

well, it's fine and good to aspire to a funding environment where there is service with stops every 200-300m, and there's shelters at all those stops, and the pedestrian environment around them is accessible, and the service is frequent-ish. it's not inherently technically bunk, like hyperloop is

16.01.2026 23:38 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

but i relate to being signaled "hey you can only like this song ironically" and it hurts, because i genuinely enjoy it because it's great and people are just being insecure about its strengths.

16.01.2026 20:27 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

i'm not nt but to me, liking a piece of art ironically is thinking it's a good pushing off point for riffing and play, which isn't always the same as enjoying it interiorly. these feel pretty distinct to me, but there's so many people for whom it's not the case, it's interesting
