About 12. At local roller disco place, Rollarena. An older boy had a throwing star. Said he was a ninja, & that he’d been issued with it for passing his ninja training at the hidden dojo. In Exeter. Said he’d seen a master kill someone trying to breach the dojo walls by a throwing star to the head.

After my father died I visited each of the houses in the area that he lived in at one point or another. Also returned to my grandmother’s house, where we stayed as small children. Over 40 years since I’d been there. Could remember everything (my older brother was there, remembered nothing, oddly).

love Burgh Island. Stayed there (late 50th birthday present, couldn’t afford to otherwise) a while back, just fabulous. Friend had a beachfront house we used for years that looked right at it. Lovely place
