Yesterday was the post-CBP invasion call with Siembra NC. It was announced that CBP was coming the Charlotte on Nov. 14th. In the days that followed, 4500 people showed up for online training and in JUST 4 DAYS, 1500 people got in-person verifier training in the Triangle alone.

We've got cruel cowards who love what is happening but they're cheering from the comfort of their couches or stupidly oversized trucks. The folks actually in the streets are the ones who are opposed to ICE & CBP. And we outnumber the fuckers. By a lot.

Yes, urban areas typically are more progressive but Trump did manage to squeak out a win in North Carolina a little over a year ago. It makes me wonder if the Feds thought they'd have more tacit support from people in N.C. than they saw in Los Angeles, D.C., and Chicago.

Durham public schools absolutely *teeming* this morning with parents, grandparents, and community members making students feel welcome and safe and saying Fuck ICE.

At the same time? I have NEVER seen the Overton Window shift so far away from supporting ICE or similar agencies. Not even during the height of the family separation policy or the Muslim travel ban.

The arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice.

It's not all tickles and sunshine out there... a lot of businesses straight up closed and the shopping center I was in should have been at least 3x as busy as it was. If nothing else, the presence of federal agents in the area had a chilling effect on the lives of local immigrants.
