Hi! Voice therapist here. If this has been going on for at least 2 wks, please see a laryngologist (ENT with extra training in voice) to take a look at your vocal folds. Could be a number of things causing this, it’s best to take a look before giving advice. DM me- I can give you recs close to you.

Excited to share my new publication with PhD student-extraordinaire, Juliana Smeltzer, and collaborator Dr. Kaila Stipancic. We identified real and clinical meaningful changes in the CAPE-V voice quality scales. A step toward more accurate interpretation of our perceptual outcome measures!

A thing about Booker: he's one of the most consistently on-message politicians I've ever met.

He told me this in 2018:

"Every speech I give, I will not yield from talking about that revival of civic grace. Talking about revival of the civic gospels. Talking about the need to love one another."

First of all, bravo to Cory Booker! An incredible feat which most certainly involved sacrifice.

But, as a voice scientist, I feel like we missed the boat for a cool case study on the impact of 25 straight hours of voice use on vocal fold tissue health. Amazingly, his voice held up well though!

Here I am, enrolling new participants into my longitudinal study, just hoping and praying I’ll continue to have funds to reassess them at the next time point.

This is absurd. Several of the words on this list are going to show up in literally every grant.

Because they want us to be poor? Is it easier to control a poorer population?

It was true a month ago and it’s even more true now. Please consider going to NIH RePORTER to look up how much money your state gets from NIH funding, and then write to your elected representatives about the impact that ending NIH grant review will have. No NIH study section==no NIH funding.

NIH proposals not being reviewed, funded. This is day 2. Can’t imagine what the next 1,458 days will bring.
