A book about “bug watching” In Japan with 3 people gathered around a bug, all using magnifying glasses, and a rhinoceros beetle on a log
Crap I should have learned to read Japanese. This looks sick.

Tommy M. McGuire (Not that one. Nor that one.) Coding bum, tetrapod. (he/him) Bitterly cynical misanthrope. It's always more complicated. I apologize in advance; I tend to get too comfortable. Called 'weird' by Kevin Kruse.

On this one the handles don’t turn, you pull with some force to open them. I don’t *think* she can get in these doors, but she’s going to try.

I'm pleased but not too surprised (as someone who has reason to look up "boffer" on wikipedia in the first place) that this article is so comprehensive: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foam_we...

A tumblr post that reads "WHo would have believed that the perfect wikipedia photo caption could have been improved upon?" Two identical images are then side by side. The first caption is "Piper Kerr, a member of the Scottis National Antarctix Expedition, plays the bagpipes for an indifferent penguin, March 1904". The Caption for the image on the left reads, "Piper Kerr (right), a member of the Scottis National Antarctix Expedition, plays the bagpipes for an indifferent penguin, March 1904"

I've got some wooden model shipbuilding stuff - passed down - tools, lots of small pieces and parts, guidebooks, a half-built ship, etc.
Is there a forum or such where I could find someone in the area who might want them?
Cached US Kindle giveaway: 6 copies of @maxgladstone.bsky.social's Dead Country: Book One of the Craft Wars Series, which I have and have read and have liked and have given out before. It's a *great* western, and Ma Abernathy is a truly frightening woman, and I love her.

Dear scholars: In the book I present to you today, Virgilio, poeta y mago, I probe that Virgil is Jesus-bar-Philip (Mark the Evangelist) y wrote Aneid y his other texts between 49 and 54 CE. Furthermore, I prove that the two sponsors of Virgil, Augustus Cæsar, promoter of the Pax Romana, and Gaius Mæcenas, promoter of Latin literature, are both fictional characters, who represent the Risen Christ and symbolize the arrival of Gentile-Christianity in Rome. You can find, in the attached document, a 16,966-word review of the book.
