take for example "trans person does embarrassing thing" would just be some microsite's internal matter, but due to the spectre of Big Social Media it's now all "libs of tiktok is gonna kill us all over this"

one thing that I think is unique to BIG social media is the way that the phenomenon that used to be refered to disparagingly as "drama" went from being "stupid thing on a site only you care about" to "matter of global importance spiralling rapidly out of control"

I try not to look at it through rose-tinted nostalgia glasses because it's not like we didnt have big site-wide flame wars, however, due to the site's smaller size they were sorta manageable

I enjoyed cohost but I spent a lot of time there thinking it was going to be a transitional site because it was too small to really have any reach there. which has its benefits and drawbacks..

I find it so weird this meltdown is over jesse s*ngal, a man who adds no measurable value to the site whatsoever and mostly seems to be here to screenshot stuff to make content for his actual home website

yeah I am not planning to leave, and I'm worried about other people leaving. as I've already said, I want more people to play my games than just my friends.
