Black Swan. Great but too harrowing. Like the novel Perdido Street Station

Or: someone has been collecting these and is strategically dropping them to keep the narrative going. It is newsworthy and Ablo is not responding well to it. He needs to do better because the Oppo have now promised to go full fash, and if he annoys enough people with this, they’ll have fash mandate

Bluesky has also asked the @australia.theguardian.com account to put in its age, and is even more restrictive.

Guardian Australia can't use @bsky.app, though 3rd party posts are still going through.

I won't put GdnAus's 2013 launch as birth date in case it nukes the account. Maybe I'll try 1821

It is super amusing that the lead-in text was not amended and says β€˜cannot be explained by natural causes alone’. Ahahahahha

Not Thai but Malaysian Noodle place below Salesforce tower has approximately Sydney’s best Laksa. Used to be on Hunter St and is highly recommended (but it would need to be lunch tomorrow)

Impossible. Gorillaz, PJ Harvey, LCD Soundsystem, At the Drive In, many other big highlights, plus a bunch of noisy stuff that will dominate the top 10, QotSA etc

Although there are functional equivalents to β€˜required by law’ in GDPR. But yes I omitted small business (noting that small businesses with spicy data sets are covered)

Instant ramen with a 8 minute boiled egg can be good (assuming Japanese or Korean style ramen. For indo mee I prefer a quick omelet with a little XO stirred through )

That said, the basic definition of β€˜personal information’ became quite ambiguous following the Grubb case and there is no sound proposal to fix that, 8 1/2 full years later. (An β€˜about-aboutness’ issue used to derive a reasonable result by making the whole law unclear). Some say.

The main problems come down to an employee records exemption that is a little broader than the ultimate effect of GDPR, politician and journalist exemptions that are broader, and somewhat shorter disclosure documents. People imagine that being non-GDPR equivalent, it is easier to comply with: not so

We had one of those before the Dualit and the dehydrator/ crunchifier but it broke after like 8 years. It was pretty good, agree.

We also have had a Dualit, for 10+!years. Had to throw out a name brand one for only dehydrating the toast - brown on the outside but equally crisp all the way through and unpleasant. The Dualit leaves it brown on the outside with some bread texture in the middle.

When it was pointed out at the time that these bad laws sent a strong economic signal for specialists to put up their fees substantially, the government pretended not to understand economic signals, saying β€˜the bill does not _require_ them to increase fees’
Cheap for those who can afford it.

Although of course it is not that chocolate has been stolen, but that chocolate is becoming endangered due to climate change. They could use real chocolate but the biscuit price would triple, then triple again, and so on.

After 2 full days of debate the bill was passed without material changes from the government’s plan at 11.46 AM. No sign yet of the β€˜hours motion’ to ram through multiple pieces of legislation without scrutiny. Presumably that will arrive after agreement on environmental laws.

They don’t have a *guillotine variation of standing orders* to allow the various amendments to be disposed of without debate, and only get one if the LNP support (and they have their other ducks in a row for the vast amount of laws they want to pass without debate this week)

24.11.2025 10:21 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

They don’t have a guillotine and there was the awful Pauline Incident, don’t was just a very long debate on procedural matters. They are negotiating worse stuff outside the chamber.

24.11.2025 10:19 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Although observe: they allow it to be debated interminably as public theatre while negotiations on worse betrayals proceed in the background. Just wait for the guillotine motion later this week, it will be a bad day for Australia.

To be fair, the big figure is based on their statements 10% of the IT project was web related.

Also it is terrible web design. Important stuff is far too far below the fold, and the initial radar page is ferkakte. If you don’t have Madagascar radar, zoom in a bit to omit Madagascar, mates

I once knew a Federal bank examiner, and one time someone asked him why we had to KEEP inspecting banks over and over. He basically said every new batch of business school grads invents bank fraud from first principles.

LinkedIn literally means you're linked in, speaking to media literally means a permanent record, describing what you do in a recorded public forum literally means on the public record. Choose the way you behave and to whom in real life carefully, because real life and online are now the same.
