With computers & electronic records that won’t happen and no one takes their profession as their name now. There isn’t Kate Programmer or Barry Analyst. If anything we’re going to have less family names as lines die off without having children.

It occurred to me that in (English speaking societies anyway) there are no new family names. Lots of names are place, profession, colour, or someone’s son. When the census was taken how the name was written down becamethe name. If the name was misspelled then tough luck that’s the name now.

Shame I need to run across the track and add the missing apostrophe.

Watching #Silo season 2 and it just struck me how have people got different accents? They’ve all been locked in there for 352 years (or whatever) so surely there’d be a silo accent now with maybe some slang phrases/different vocabulary used by the different levels?

Parking on the pavement? Put some big ol' rocks in the way

Are cars going too fast? Cover the road in little bumpy rocks

Street too wide? Big pile of rocks for cars to go around

Need a bike lane? Line of chunky rocks to keep cars away
