This article is a good read specially for now. With finals week coming up, eating healthy is just as important as hydration and good sleep. You need all three factors to have a successful finals week. Healthy eating can sometimes even help with lowering the stress. @beh353.bsky.social

Taking turns with your roommate is such a smart idea. It allows for both of you to rest equally while also making food that will be healthy for you both. Very smart! @beh353.bsky.social

Some of the things to look for in nutrition posts are the author and their credibility, the posting website's affiliations, research the evidence mentioned, and think about who the target audience is. For finals week, my go to are coffee and eggs. Energy in two forms! @beh353.bsky.social

This is a great guide for this time of year since we have finals coming up. Sleep is very important not only for general rest but also remembering information for exams. This guide makes it easy to understand the importance of sleep. @beh353.bsky.social

I like that this article highlights the importance different parts of healthy eating such as general healthy benefits, fruits and vegetables, vitamins in food, mealtimes. It's a good guide for parents looking for education in nutrients/vitamins to give to their kids. @beh353.bsky.social

The article I chose is posted by Mayo Clinic, a well-known and trusted source for health education. This article breaks down information based on nutrient-dense food, ages, and proportions. It's an easy guide for parents to follow! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This post connects with this weeks topic of ultra processed foods. Typically if there's words you can't pronounce or has "acid" at the end, its not the best food. Those are artificial agents added that turn your food from healthy to ultra processed. Stay on the lookout! @beh353 #beh353

Hi Brandy, I totally agree. His strong mindset is what kept him going and focused, and that's something that many people struggle with. Sticking to a routine and not deviating can be very hard so Tom's routine was very impressive to read about! @beh353.bsky.social

Tom Carroll's story shows the importance of how words can affect someone, specially patients. Hospitals are meant to be places of trust and no judgement. Saying words such as "Until it ain’t" after the patient says a joke about his weight isn't respectful to the patient. @beh353.bsky.social

Hi Himani, this fact stood out to me too. I agree that obesity is seen through junk food. Since junk food is easier and cheaper to get, those in poor areas will most likely go eat fast food and save money. @beh353.bsky.social

One fact that stood out to me in the James Corden video was "childhood obesity is directly linked to poverty". I found this interesting because it made me realize how many fast-food chains are set in poor cities/neighborhoods. It's cheap and easy access for a quick meal. @beh353.bsky.social

This is super important to know! Now that it's getting warmer, it's time to stock up on more natural produce. A lot of people like to take this time to grow their own produce. A good way to connect your health to nature! @beh353.bsky.social

Hi, I also had this same issue. I'm lucky that my mom makes food at home but sometimes I want to change it up and because of lack of time/planning, ordering out is the go-to. @beh353.bsky.social

One of the barriers I related with was lack of time to plan,
shop, prepare and cook healthy foods. School and work take up so much of time. If I'm not in school, then I'm working or doing school related things. Any free time is spent with friends and our go-to is dinner. @beh353.bsky.social

Hi Brenda, this article hits a very modern issue happening that even I have come across. It's easy to read a label and the good things highlighted by the packaging on the bottle without thinking of possible long term effects on the body. #beh353

A supplement I recently learned about the CALM magnesium citrate gummies. These are usually used as muscle relaxants to calm the body after a heavy workout or to help with anxiety. Another plus is that it helps patients with constipation issues! An all-around supplement! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is important to know because of the new epidemic of weight losing drugs happening right now. These new companies target the obese community with messages such as fast weight loss but don't cover the adverse effects and long-term risks. @beh353 #beh353

Hi Vivian, I've always liked Harvard Health Publishing as a resource. They always count on evidence-based research with a set researching team for the range of topics they cover. Always reliable for many topics.

A high-quality article for nutrition is "How Healthy Are Chickpeas?" by the New York Times. They are known to research facts from myths, they have set teams for a wide range of topics, and always maintain an unbiased view. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/10/w... @beh353.bsky.social

After reading about many forms of diets and tricks to weight loss and body cleanses, it is important to think about the natural ways of cleansing your body without different tricks. Fiber is an important carb that helps with your digestive system! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

Hi Shivani, I was also looking at the Master Cleanse diet and from the research it seems that the salt water can work as a laxative to help "cleanse" the digestive system. This is most beneficial to anybody constipated or with stomach cramps. @beh353.bsky.social

I looked into the Atkins diet which is one I've never heard of. This diet involves a low or no carbs and high in protein meal. My understanding is that carbs are the main ingredient for our energy to function so I wonder, why cut it out of your daily intake completely? @beh353.bsky.social

Hi, I love protein pancakes. It was hard finding ones I liked because of that protein taste but I found the Kodiak pancakes and waffles and so far they are the best brand. They are whole grain with 15 grams of protein. They also have oats and muffins for healthy snacks! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

For this week I've chosen a sandwich. I usually do my sandwiches with white bread, processed ham, cheese and sometimes spicy mayo. I could make this more nutrient dense by switching to wheat bread, roasted chicken or turkey, and add lettuce and tomato. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Hi Lindsey, I agree it was definitely not hard but the accuracy was important. There's so many things I didn't think to write down such as the oil/ butter on the pan or the seasonings I used to cook. Those are things I'm eating but are so small they didn't seem important. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
