That was the last of public comments. Since there is no quorum, Commissioner Dewaelsche adjourned the meeting.

Commissioner Eva Garza Dewaelsche asks the Chief of Police if there's someone who can speak with her. The Chief insists that it was probably not confiscated without cause, and the speaker says she assures him that it was confiscated without cause.

Another speaker says a cell phone was illegally confiscated by the 9th precinct on October 30. She says the commander has refused to speak with her.

The next speaker says DPD needs to do better about the way they interact with children. He says we need better oversight and action from the department.

The next speaker, former police commissioner Bernice Smith, says she's concerned about crime in the city.

The next caller is former commissioner William Davis who says he wishes more commissioners were present. He raised concerns about the Detroit Detention Center, which he heard doesn't currently have heat.

Police Commissioners' Chair Eva Garza Dewaelsche said that they do not have a quorum. They are moving directly to public comment.

The meeting is starting and it looks like the audio issues have been ironed out! Chaplain Angelia Ross-Collins is giving the invocation.

The meeting hasn't started yet, but the start time is at 6:30 so that's to be expected. They are conducting some audio testing right now, and there's an echo when people in the meeting room speak, making it difficult to hear.

They're doing roll call. Council President Thomas is excused because he is under the weather. Council member Manica is excused for a medical emergency. Council member Martin is excused for a medical emergency. They do not have a quorum.
