I am interested in Climate Change, SF (hard) environment, gardening, cooking, and beaches. In many ways an old school left social democrat but politically the climate emergency is my overarching political concern. Blocking no profile, no posts followers.

The Liberals have followed the Murdoch media prescription for success for 20 years until they reached the point where they are nearly ON.

Minns is very smooth and very glib. He gives those nice strong answers that are so beloved by the Australian media. He will end up though like Abbott, Morrison and Latham.

I wonder how the libs will do leadership spill after the next election when there are 3 of them left.

I thought that they were not going to be forgiven for the Morrison years. I did not think that they would disintegrate before our very eyes like some sort of science fiction story.

It's surprising how much Scott Morrison was like Boris Johnson and how much Albanese is like Starmer. Expect Albanese to start coming out with policies to appease potential One Nation voters.

If they do stuff like this they will kill people. They must know this.

I've worked in warehouses. They are great at storing stuff but not so good for human beings. A large warehouse will have enough washrooms for 5 workers. It would only take a couple of days, even if you put 100 people into something the size of an aircraft hangar, for there to be a sanitary disaster.

There are a lot of newish Bluesky accounts that think the best way forward in progressive American politics is to attack other progressives purity.

People who advocate a position rather than damning others are less likely to be bots.

It's a tiny nuance but listen for it.

Hanson and Joyce get a dream run on daytime tv but the truth is they are incapable of working with others. They are as chaotic as Trump. Hanson has been sucking on the public teat for over 25 years and has NEVER had a policy idea besides blaming Asians, Indians etc etc.

The only thing that I will say is for compulsory voting and the preferential system is we have a fair idea of who votes for which party. There are no surprises or guesses as to who will turn up on election day.

01.02.2026 11:02 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This is just a guess but if the hard right liberal voters desert the party surely that leaves the more small l liberals as the bulk of remaining liberals? And would they rather vote for Labor than ON?

THE AGE

Saying he welcomed Herzog's trip to Australia, Albanese added: "We have too much division and people have their views on the Middle East, but I'll make this point that Australia's not in a position to solve by ourselves the Middle East issues, and people don't want conflict brought here.

And then thereโ€™s this shameless garbage from Albanese, repeating the tired line that โ€œpeople donโ€™t want conflict brought hereโ€ while literally inviting the president of the โ€œconflictโ€ here. The utter contempt these people have for Australians is so glaring.

These places will kill people. I worked in warehouses. They are good for storing non-organic material. They are not good for "storing" people.

That which is for me through the medium of money - that for which I can pay (i.e., which money can buy) - that am I myself, the possessor of the money. The extent of the power of money is the extent of my power. Money's properties are my - the possessor's - properties and essential powers. Thus, what I am and am capable of is by no means determined by my individuality. I am ugly, but I can buy for myself the most beautiful of women.
Therefore I am not ugly, for the effect of ugliness - its deterrent power - is nullified by money. I, according to my individual characteristics, am lame, but money furnishes me with twenty-four feet.
Therefore I am not lame. I am bad, dishonest, unscrupulous, stupid; but money is honoured, and hence its possessor. Money is the supreme good, therefore its possessor is good. Money, besides, saves me the trouble of being dishonest: I am therefore presumed honest. I am brainless, but money is the real brain of all things and how then should its possessor be brainless? Besides, he can buy clever people for himself, and is he who has [In the manuscript: is. - Ed.] power over the clever not more clever than the clever? Do not I, who thanks to money am capable of all that the human heart longs for, possess all human capacities? Does not my money, therefore, transform all my incapacities into their contrary?

As a side note, itโ€™s funny to see so many of these emails with thirsty academics repeatedly enact Marxโ€™s bit in the 1844 Manuscripts about the power of money. โ€œOh Mr Epstein, your house in New York is enormous and, unrelatedly, your questions at dinner were so intelligent, so insightful, so deep.โ€

Rudd says he declined Epstein invitation after latest document dump The newly released Epstein documents show the New York sex offender sought a wide-ranging network of political and financial contacts, including former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd.

It's not just networking. What possible influence could be extracted by Epstein from a then out of work Ex-Australian PM? Why seek out Rudd? On one level it's as puerile as collecting all the Star Wars bobble heads. On another it's uncomfortably sinister.
