We know that there are differences in outcomes and experiences for children living in care of different ethnicities - but without reporting ethnicity we can't learn more about these differences, or 'what works well for whom' with support we are offering young people.

You might be wondering why reporting ethnicity is important. Without knowing the ethnicity of the children living in care who take part in research it's really hard to know how much our learning applies to all children in care - or just some groups.

Ramadan is one of the holiest months of the year for Muslims but it can be challenging for Muslim children in care.

Last year I attended the @mhrincubator.bsky.social writing retreat and it was the most supportive, protected time for writing I had all year. I also learnt so much from the fantastic speakers and hosts, including @cathycreswell.bsky.social - can't recommend enough.
