Cranky queer elder on the west coast of Canada. I did 35 years in the US so don't tell me about the joys of privatized healthcare. Library and public transit enthusiast. It was ADHD all along. She/they (gendermeh)

Teen Vogue eliminated all their Black and trans staff today.

It's resegregation in real time.

I assume this text is meant to show up beside a large DONATE NOW button, like on most grifter sites.

Long ago, the actor Peter Ustinov described Toronto as "New York run by the Swiss."

Most lesbians are not transphobic--in fact, it's one of the most accepting groups. I'm ready for lesbians to start filing suits in response to this slander.

As queer barista in the '90s, this checks out. It also explains the coffee shop-to-library pipeline.

My first thought was of the rule against photos from heights in the Soviet Union in the '80s.

He did not call for a general strike but that's an interesting headline from HuffPost.

Remember when Action4Canada was just a COVID-denial grift? A couple years later, the group pivoted to being anti-trans+ and suddenly there were bible verses on every page of the site, among the many DONATE buttons.

Those who understand SARS-CoV-2 (Covid) causes neurological, endothelial, cardiovascular, and immune system damage, and that damage from repeated infections is cumulative, mask. And those who don’t will soon find out.

I don’t β€œlive in fear” typically means, I prefer to β€œlive in denial.”

And his "We shall fight on the beaches" speech was basically a remix of the St. Crispin’s Day speech in Henry V.

I hope other countries as well as the new regional health systems in the US pick up as much of this work as they can.

It's vital that those with any power demonstrate how to care about others. Many of us were raised with capitalist values and need to be shown there are other options. We literally need to see that caring is not childlike but a solid value.

People who complain about identity politics are usually upset there's a focus on someone who doesn't share THEIR identity.

I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

Sending this back around because it's so dang good.

Do yourself a favor and enjoy this queer musician who played a pro trans song at a straight pride festival in Boise over the summer.

Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.

There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.

What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.

It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as β€œwar-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.

Gay far-right sympathizer falls in love with young Pakistani man in Thatcher’s London: The magnificent 40th anniversary of β€˜My Beautiful Laundrette’ Daniel Day-Lewis, Hanif Kureishi and Stephen Frears were almost unknown when they burst onto the scene with this low-budget English film

One of my favourite films. I was fortunate to see it in a theatre in England with a friend who whispered explanations of the lines in Urdu that had much of the audience giggling.

Texas Won’t Study How Its Abortion Ban Impacts Women, So We Did Since Texas banned abortion, no one has studied the statewide effects on pregnant women experiencing complications. Here’s how we sifted through data on millions of pregnancy hospitalizations and anal...

Earlier this year, ProPublica found that the sepsis rate in second-trimester pregnancy loss hospitalizations increased by more than 50% under Texas’ abortion ban.

Here’s how we did our analysis.
