That new "pixel art over google maps" wplace thing is neat but would be way cooler if you had to physically be at the location to set the pixel color.

Would be a fun irl project to get people together in parks and whatnot - otherwise the map feels like a needless gimmick

Got weighted pathfinding working!

Pathing with 12 degrees of freedom on a hex grid instead of the usual 6 was a fun challenge

Meanwhile in indie land, I just spent the afternoon making a real fast & memory efficient pathfinding algorithm for my game. Still have a couple more features I wanna give it for polish, but seeing characters move on my map is tasty >:3

AAA game dev is like normal game dev except instead of developing anything good or sensible, you're neck deep in the ~muck~ fixing some 5 years old feature that's both "very inefficient" and "way too big to scrap and remake from scratch"

Finishing my day job as a AAA dev so that I can spend my afternoon doing actual game dev for my indie project 🙃

My biggest complaint with cinematic universes is that they keep trying to put everything on the same fukkn planet

Like look at the XMen, they remain to make no sense in a world where they're hated but the avengers are loved - so just put them on a different planet & problem solved

I really like how they made the whole cast intelligent instead of just Reed - it does a lot for the narrative of the Fantastic Four originating as "the best of the best science team being the first pioneers into space"

I love when I can see the work in a piece of art. Practical effects in film, brush strokes on canvas, strange sounds in music, "impossible" visuals in games. It puts me in conversation with the artist. That's why - ethics aside - art created with AI is just so disappointing. There's no work to see.

Saw fantastic 4 & hell yea it's so nice to see a Marvel movie not in the MCU

Had a bit of writer's block on my project for a while just trying to think of "where do I start"

I think I have a decent roadmap now, but yea finishing the level editor was weird as suddenly I just have "every game mechanic" to implement with no clear feature needing to come before another

I didn't watch any of the directs and have no idea how this rock is going to get replaced by Pauline but sure go for it Nintendo

The story makes me feel like the rock turning into Pauline's gonna be some big reveal - but the reveal doesn't really work when she's on the box art
