The one before this is the one where you asked if we saw your post beforehand which was about your former colleagues. I hope this helps!

Graphic with a blue background. Several names can be seen in transparent white. In the center above are two large stripes. These read "1 week - 58,000 names." At the top, in white, it says: "The Nazis persecuted millions of people." And at the bottom: "Help remember the victims - because #everynamecounts." The #everynamecounts logo is at the bottom left.

Save the date: January 26! Weโ€™re launching this yearโ€™s #everynamecounts challenge the day before International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Help us build the worldโ€™s largest digital memorial to the victims of Nazi persecution! #StayTuned

My father also said I didn't need to understand every word to understand the story and that helped a lot.

That would be worth the fee in any case ๐Ÿ˜ I got into reading English books quite early on. My father recommended it to get better at English and it was successful enough that it was noticed by the guy from the state government who checked the quality of our course.

No need to apologise! There are a lot of people on here. I will let you know but it could take a while because I need to convince myself that it's okay ๐Ÿ˜‰ but I am willing ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I didn't notice all of it when first reading it because she is good at telling stories. And I stand by that. I am quite angry at her for not using this talent better (this is an unimportant part of my anger but it's part of it). But these books are the ones I could easily give up after a while.

I don't belong to the people who make a sport from not liking what many other people like, so this is my honest opinion - and I totally forgot about him too ๐Ÿ˜

24.01.2026 23:03 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Oh yes, I borrowed most of Pratchett's books from libraries but the few I have, I'll keep too.

I tried to read one of his books but I just couldn't. I don't even remember which one it was but I only read a couple of pages - at a time when I was much less critical ๐Ÿ™ƒ
And your thoughts sound much more interesting than the book could ever be ๐Ÿ˜‰

24.01.2026 20:01 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yes, same about not wanting to sell them and hesitating because of the money that's in there. But I know from experience that I won't care so much in a while. It happened with other books I couldn't keep for moral reasons too.

I listened to that one last year, you made me aware that it came out and I told my other friend at once, we both hadn't noticed when you posted about it. Thanks again! And of course, thanks so much for the other recommendations, I am going to have a look!

One of my jobs in my flat this year is to sort through my book shelves. There are some from before my ban of straight white male authors and I think I want to get rid of them but can't bring myself to do it right now. But maybe I can start with a few and keep the others for now (all by N.G.).

24.01.2026 15:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Maybe I need to try it. I listened to a few horror short stories in 2024 and they were not that bad. They were recommended by Alexis Hall. So what's your favourite?

24.01.2026 15:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Last year I read over 250 books ๐Ÿ˜Ž, of course it's a mix of genres but the queer ones are ranking quite high on that list (around 1 quarter of the books are non-fiction every year).
But I only discriminate against books written by men without any minority status ๐Ÿ˜ (and I avoid horror too)

It has its uses, especially if you want to enclose something, a foot, a hot water bottle, a stone, whatever, because you can work in the round and don't have an open side.
