In this current IRL dystopia, it feels weird (almost insignificant) to talk about "normal" stress. Yet normal is what we fight FOR & it can't be allowed to go away. Odd dichotomy. 😕

I had to read a 70k word mss recently that was 100% present perfect. My brain still hurts. There's a new word in here somewhere. Sensi-tensive. In-tense-somnia. 🤔

I don't really consider this a cause for celebration, since (among other things) it worries for me how few books must be getting sold overall. 😩🤦‍♀️ But whether I hate it or love it, when a book zips in & out of that elusive #1 slot on strength of a handful of sales (or not) it's hard to ignore.

That first one. Seriously... could not publishers (big, small, self, indie... I don't care) do such a thing pretty easily? Or would scammers just co-opt it and destroy the value? Wish I could think of a realistic way actually to implement this.

I saw a block list of “trolls and climate deniers” that included at least one account who is seemingly neither of those things.
This happens by accident or perhaps due to misinterpreted sarcasm. Still, one “oops” is too many because that could always be me or you… which would really suck.

🚨📚🚨 If you have serious interest in #publishing, at all, whether as an author or a consumer of your preferred types of #books, please, please, PLEASE read this. Preferably memorize it, but a printout pinned to a wall where you'll see it every day would also be useful.

Well, not sure what to say, except.... don't quit??? 🤔 I don't think "longer" is much of a record, really. Have heard of books where "it took most of my life" is actually a real thing. Hope you do say so when it's ready to go somewhere, wherever "somewhere" turns out to be.

Would it help any if I told you my next one coming out is a mss I started around the end of 2011? 😆😳🤦 I'm possibly preaching to the choir here, because that %~&*$ thing has been the toughest writing of my entire life.

I'm not sure if I see a sarcasm font or not, but either way, please don't stop!

#Writers, please don't EVER give up. I've posted about this woman before (a former student), but think it merits repeating b/c today, even if for a short time, the book she was never supposed to be able to read (forget write) has overtaken Devon Price's at the top of "Children's #Autism."
