Seems unnecessarily complicated & euro/us centric. Basically a way to keep players like Trin while giving low ambition clubs an out on not spending more.

I post #Nwsl Attendance + #USLSuperLeague. data from league website or club websites. Not affiliated with the nwsl or USL. Just a follower that tracks numbers.

12.12.2025 17:02 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Raise your hand if you just realized that the NWSL CBA has side letter of agreements at the bottom that keep being added as the league and NWSLPA agree on amendments to the CBA

Itβs all just unnecessarily complicated in my opinion. It would have been so much simpler to add to the cap where all players had the potential to benefit some. This will only benefit the top players based on criteria because youβre right a lot of teams might not qualify. Letβs see in a year
12.12.2025 16:50 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0The one million will be outdated soon and the league will get to unilaterally decide to increase it. The teams canβt even decide their own HIPβs without silly league criteria. I donβt understand why they need to complicate the process. Adding to the salary cap would have been simpler or DP rule.
12.12.2025 16:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I know the goal is to keep players in the nwsl but iβm not sure what the league is proposing is the best way. It ultimately gives the league a lot more power and adds another cap. Thereβs already a salary cap, Net Transfer Cap/ fee, and now a HIP cap/ limits.
12.12.2025 16:15 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I donβt understand why the league is like this. Itβs the endless rules like Allocation, Intra league transfers, FAM etc It could all be so much easier. If a club deems a player worthy of a bigger contract why is that not their decision? Itβs their money that pays the salary.
12.12.2025 04:10 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Trust the league to do the most complicated thing instead of just raising the cap or getting a few DP players. The fact that this has a cap just means it will be outdated in a little while.
12.12.2025 03:15 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Short term solution but it was always going to be like this. The CBA was never going to be torn up. Now next CBA negotiations will be interesting
11.12.2025 05:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0About time. The league was being stubborn about this. It was either change the cap significantly/ DP rule or lose talent. Now this has to be for several players per team 3 or 4 hopefully.
11.12.2025 05:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's pretty galling that the NWSL will *always* tout any example of unprecedented growth, no matter how insignificant or narrowly defined, and then say the revenue growth expectations needed here have no precedent.

09.12.2025 19:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 03 days of a tournament = 2 million dollars
NWSL SALARY CAP = 3.5 million
Some wave players made more playing in the 3 day tournament than their nwsl salary.
Bay FC, the professional womenβs soccer team representing the Bay Area in the National Womenβs Soccer League (NWSL), today announced the appointment of Emma Coates as the clubβs new head coach, with Gemma Davies joining her staff as assistant coach, subject to visa approvals.

04.12.2025 15:19 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wrong number?
04.12.2025 15:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The league is still in the "we have to just survive a couple more years" mindset from the first years of the league. I get it. I was there. But we're like, a decade older than either of the previous leagues. Its time for us to go to a thrive mindset instead of survive.
04.12.2025 14:24 β π 16 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Want to be a serious league? Pay your players.
04.12.2025 06:00 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Almost 400 million in expansion fees since 2023. This league is what it is because of the players. And they should be compensated accordingly
04.12.2025 04:38 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0So how does Berman just get to ignore the CBA? If this compliant with the CBA
04.12.2025 04:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I imagine since the Spirit are close to the cap or close to over it the last years are the bulk of the contract. The contract will increase significantly over the years.
04.12.2025 03:56 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The league canβt deny this if a team has space in the cap. Thereβs technically nothing stopping teams from doing this. The problem here is that Washington seems to be over the cap. The cheap owners and by extension Berman donβt seem to want a DP rule or a significant cap increase.
