Apology accepted, but I would encourage you to explore the possibility that former players hired into executive roles may possess more skills, experiences, and qualifications than playing. Playing provides a perspective that informs decisionmaking and leadership, but it is not an end all, be all.

I was a mediocre player at best. I did though graduate with honors from Navy, earn an MBA with Distinction, practice law in multiple jurisdictions, and spend twenty years leading people. Hopefully my skillset translates.
