Such a biased viewpoint. Imagine placing those "wait for gap in traffic" signs changed to read "wait for gap in pedestrians". There is another alternative that dare not be mentioned - have all vehicle lights on red to let pedestrians cross without danger, then restart traffic.

Pedestrianize Byward Market and Lansdowne*, (and add bus lane/s to Bank) and you have two major areas prioritizing people wandering and enjoying the city without worrying about being mown down.

Walked to Parliament, got straight on a train. Walked home from Tunneys Pasture in the snow along Scott faster than the traffic was moving. Zero stress.

I learned never to freewheel and risk pawls disengaging when things get really cold after a very long walk at -20°C. I was also given the advice to pee on the freehub (I did not take this advice).

But also quite sad.
