16.10.2025 16:03 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Photo of many little seeds on a net which is on a grate, all of which are being anchored by stones in bright sunlight. The seeds are for herbal medicine, specifically for female hormone regulation. They'll become a tincture eventually. #gardening
Approximately half of the chaste (aka vitex) berries of my first harvest, drying in the sun.
They've already been washed, dried for several days, now peeled and left to dry for a few more days.
I'm still cleaning the other half, it's wildly fussy but calming too.

I picked up Manor Lords- finally. Having fun, hence most of my recent silence.
Also playing Medieval Dynasty again. MD is co-op, but I still haven't found a partner to play with....
What have y'all been playing recently?

This particular one caught me- then I realized it's because approximately 80% of my wardrobe I've sewn falls under these shades..
I live in these colors.
Photo of a first-year Weld plant, in a garden planter. It has long thin leaves that spread out in every direction, slightly rippled and curving, smaller leaves in the top center. The plant is grown for natural dye, specifically yellow. #garden #dye
We also attempted growing Weld this year - this was the only one to sprout from the pack, finally doing well
Next year will either harvest for yellow dye, or let it go to seed and try again for larger crop

There were 3 trilobite species over a foot long...
the largest found was 28 inches

A colored illustration of a variety of different shaped bristle worms, all in close proximity or overlapping each other. Their mostly orange, yellow and red segmented bodies contrast highly against a greenish background.
Another post for #SciArtSeptember day 29: Plate 96 from Kunstformen der Natur (1904) by Ernst Haeckel depicting a variety of marine annelid worm species. It is labeled Chaetopoda, an obsolete taxonomical term. A favorite, it looks even more striking in person.
Coin for scale.

Forgot to post the picture of my second woad ball
Tiny ball on top is from last month's harvest, now properly dried and shrunken - the large ball on bottom is new
Photo of a big plastic punch bowl filled with woad leaves
Now to clean these up and mush them into a ball.
Playing with a mortar and pestle is actually quite fun and satisfying
Photo of a picked woad leaf - it's long and resembles spinach or chard Used for natural dye for textiles, grown in my garden
Having another woad harvest today

A snowshoe hare skeleton is depicted in front of browning foliage, backlit by bright yellow sunlight.
Autumn Light
A painting from 2023, I really liked trying to portray translucency here. I referenced a hare skull in front of a lamp, and extrapolated how the lighting would look with a full skeleton.

19.09.2025 16:04 โ ๐ 124 ๐ 26 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0On the flip side, I feel like it's evolutionary- humans were meant to stagger sleep patterns to keep night watch and fires lit. Our brains just have a couple hours delay in getting sleepy, ready to take first watch.
19.09.2025 17:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0As far as sleep disorders go, it's never mentioned and certainly not understood or accommodated.. and can affect employment, taking daily medication, every aspect of scheduled responsible life.. I literally cannot isolate an hour of the day I'll be consistently awake for as weeks pass.
