New Yorkers Flock to the Polls as Combative Mayoral Race Concludes It’s Election Day in the greatest city in the world. New Yorkers are deciding on the city’s next mayor and a host of other races and ballot questions. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

By noon, with nine hours left of voting, we've already surpassed the number of New Yorkers voting in a mayoral election going back two decades.

This many New Yorkers haven't voted in a mayoral election since the 2005 race between Bloomberg and Fernando Ferrer, when 1.3 million NYC residents voted.

Andrew Cuomo gave more money in taxpayer subsidies to Elon Musk than the entire cost of Zohran Mamdani’s free bus plan.

It’s not unreasonable or radical to want our tax dollars to go to programs that help us, instead of as giveaways to billionaires.

I gotta give it up to the writers tho. If NYC elects a Muslim mayor on the day Dick Cheney died, that is one hell of a slow played story arc. Every time you want to fire 2025's writers room they give you a little narrative resolution as a treat.

I volunteer at the dem booth outside the polls every election and the republican volunteer always tries to chat with us and I always try to avoid it but this time I simply said that he supports policies that kill and terrorize people and therefore I want nothing to do with him. He was.... confused.

One of our country's greatest war criminals just died, the president is arguing with himself about whether or not to let 40 million people starve, and there is an actual courtroom drama about a five dollar footlong.

How are any of us supposed to maintain emotional regulation.

Today’s politics may be confusing, but it’s clear that the Republican Party supports these 2 things:
1. Masked, armed men snatching people off the street because of the color of their skin.
2. The hiding of records to cover up for powerful people who rape children.

My Zohran story is I was gonna host a fundraising party at my house for his Assembly campaign on March 20, 2020, which obvs didn't happen, so on April 3 I hosted a virtual fundraiser and 4 people showed up and he stayed on Zoom the whole time hanging and answering questions and being a sweetie
