The recent attack at the IPAS centre in Drogheda is shocking, but not surprising. Nor is the silence from those who shout the loudest about protection of women and children.

Amazing sunrise marking the start of the Celtic New Year on 1st November / Samhain, the Christian Feast of All Saints Day.

At Carrowmore megalithic site, Sligo, the chamber at Listoghill faces the Ballygawley Mountains & sunrise in this position coincides with the start and the end of winter.

Oรญche Shamhna shona duit! ๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›

Here's a short moment captured at the entrance to Oweynagat, Uaimh na gCat (Cave of the Cats) in the ancient landscape of Rathcroghan, Roscommon.

There are many tales about the dark depths of the cave, once described as the 'Gateway to Hell' in the Book of Leinster.

The Israeli UN rep called Francesca Albanese a witch & said her report on the ongoing genocide in Gaza was just โ€˜another page in her spell bookโ€™. Her brilliant response is that if she had spells (as a witch) sheโ€™d end their crimes. #endthegenocide

Halloween histories: Step inside the stories of Irelandโ€™s (alleged) witches Dr Niav Gallagher of the Dictionary of Irish Biography looks at the history of witchcraft in Ireland.

Traces of Samhain remain in the celebration we know today as Halloween: bonfires, feasting, dressing up and, of course, ghost stories. So, for the day that's in it, step inside the stories of Irelandโ€™s (alleged) witches with DIB article in The Journal: www.thejournal.ie/readme/hallo...

Happy Halloween!

In pre-Christian Ireland, Samhain marked the shift from summerโ€™s light to winterโ€™s dark. But it was also the time when the barrier between this world and the Otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through to our realm, where they were appeased with food and drink

โ€œThe plain fact is that the planet does not need more successful people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places.

โ™ ๏ธThe Pรบca๐ŸŒ™
As the veil grows thin, letโ€™s look back at how our ancestors inspired #Halloween.

The pรบca (Irish for spirit) is a creature of Celtic folklore. They were said to be shape-changers that could take the appearance of a human disguise.

Her death led to huge demonstrations and helped put Ireland on the road to legalisation of abortion in a referendum in 2018. This is the story of that movement:
