I couldn’t buy the fact that Spike acknowledged the fact he had failed on the mainland but felt confident enough to head out again with his catatonic mother who wouldn’t be capable of running. Not to mention he had about 10 arrows. Plus the Olivier stuff - just found it grotesque. So it goes though

So many great choices already here but as Hymns to the Silence feels underrepresented I’ll give it a vote if only for Take Me Back where Van’s sense of yearning speaks to the common search for the unachievable utopia of the past.

I think it was Philip Pullman who said there’s nothing to be gained from dismissing the enthusiasms of youth. They’re an important stepping stone in who we are today and spurning them ruthlessly discredits us

That’s the great thing about good criticism - you can hear why someone else dislikes something and admire the piece but still love the album (film, sculpture, whatever)

Sadly true. When a film I worked on ended up on a streamer rather than theatrical (thanks to COVID) we all agreed we wouldn’t have spent as much attention to detail if we’d known where it was headed
