Elected with a mandate to Own the Libs (Libs being anyone who's not a Trump/MAGA fan).

Liking this because I feel the same way (feel like I have few valuable skills, not good at my job, want to do something else but don't know what).
This feeling sucks. You're not alone, though.

This makes sense. They can't stay in power long with free and fair elections. And attempting to rig and/or suppress the vote run by 50 different states is too unwieldy (yay federalism!).

January 6, 2021 the 2026 edition. I'm still not over how so many Americans claim January 6 was a nothingburger. It's as if something truly horrific needs to happen to jolt more Americans awake.

If anything is attempted, it most likely becomes a kind of self-fulfilling October surprise to create Blue Tsunami. As others have pointed out, Americans are cranky individualists who want to show up and vote for who they want to dammit. Messing with that pisses TONS of people off and backfires.

And then you've got state election officials and governors and secretaries of state and police departments who don't want Feds who look like masked ICE goons harassing their people at the polls.

And then Trump doesn't have an infinite amount of goons, so they can't be meaningfully suppressing the vote in Atlanta and Philadelphia and Houston and Detroit and Omaha and Dallas and Phoenix all at once.

Wait until Election Day to target precincts risks Dems banking enough votes during early voting, and then it still creates a live feed of attempted voter suppression that encourages Dems to vote and ticks Independents and R-Leaners off.

I'm optimistic that voter intimidation efforts by this administration would backfire spectacularly:

Yes. In hindsight they should have brought charges earlier (early 2022?) and gone all in on communicating the need to hold him accountable and how it was not partisan. Unfortunately bringing charges after he declared he was running for President made it look partisan. Sigh...

I buy 2 gallons of whole milk a week for my family of 5. One of the countless weird, out of touch things this administration is doing.

They think it's "based" and "patriotic" to flex American muscle and take territory from namby-pamby European allies. Ugh.

A reminder of the stunning rate of scientific progress: it’s only been 101 years that we’ve known the Universe is larger than the Milky Way. Now we know that it’s at least *1 million* times larger in linear size than the Milky Way (and probably 50 or more times larger than that, even).

Congress is not functioning because a majority of its members are Trump supporters. Democrats have to capture majorities to be able to do anything. And even then they can't remove him without 67 Senators on board.

So don't lay blame on Democrats who are out of power. Lay blame on Republicans!

Not a fan of Bush but he was a step up from what we got now.

Our Solar System is orbiting the center of our Galaxy at about 220 km/s so in 2025 we collectively traveled something like 7 billion kilometers across the Milky Way. Once in a while, when you have a moment, it’s worthwhile to take a look around, see where you are, and appreciate how far you’ve come.
