I've already quoted a few of the comments on this, pointing out the *many* ways this analogy is faulty, but there's lots more. Crowdsourced fisking!
And when I say 'faulty', I mean that once one removes the parts that are factually wrong, there's nothing left.

Analogising gender as different metals only exposes their fundamental misunderstandings. They believe these parts of human identity are like elements on the periodic table, distinct and intransmutable, and that suggesting one can be “turned” into the other is tantamount to alchemy or witchcraft.

Also, it is indeed possible to convert iron-pyrite into gold. The universe does it all the damn time through fusion. This is why the universe isn't just a supermassive cloud of elemental hydrogen... Yeah, we humans can't do it, but we can alter our biology

Even if we stick with the analogy here (and it’s not lost on me that the equivalent term for trans people in this analogy is fool’s gold), we need to recognize that the value of a currency is culturally constructed. If the society wanted to treat the two substances as equivalents, it totally could!

I've noted it before, but it's really obvious here about how antitransmasculinity here has roots in 'women are obligated to perform to satisfy others' entitlement which becomes 'tmascs are obligated to "remain" women to satisfy others'.

It's particularly something coming from a female author.
