Telling dickbags to fuck-off will always be your god damn right. It's acceptable to do in person, and it should be acceptable to do so online. No matter who you are.

Social media isn't for playing dress-up. It's a social space, and you can tell an insect to piss off if they're being one.

oh, and if you did have a point, or crafted a piece with intention, you're about to be called a worthless hack by the most bitterly pissed people on the planet who believe youtubers are like corporate fatcats and not independent media producers. because you bothered to make something

the real shit is, it even bugs me sometimes. i was a young person with a degree in english + creative writing, and a teaching diploma. shouldn't my words matter? but people don't notice your arrangements and your grammar when it's not on the page. they often miss your thesis. most won't get to it

-i know it hurts the qualified that people without qualifications and craft can earn a paycheck, but YouTube and your audience are not your professor or editor. The universe isn't handing out letter-grades.

-academic writers get pissed about it a lot. I also have a degree, but it doesn't matter. Academic writing is often a far cry from writing-for-video

-one should not assume a long piece is lacking in depth. Many do, but others are a longform immersion engine.

Longform video discourse on the timeline. I've done both for years so:

-long videos are (sometimes) successful because people want to listen/virtually hang out with a voice for a long time

-trite and overlong material still performs because many audiences aren't there for crafted writing
