What I really worry about is the lack of critical thinking in Alberta's UCP.
Where the RFK goes, Smith & LaGrange follow.

I'm in Alberta.
Ottawa should definitely NOT finance another pipeline.
Smith took away free COVID vaccines, adequate education funding, & clawed back disability benefits in the name of "fiscal responsibility". I'm sure she'll appreciate that Ottawa must also exhibit fiscal responsibility.
The MLAs have 7 days to respond (article dated Nov 15 - 16), so we should hear more next week.

her leadership race, leadership review, and before voting to use the Notwithstanding Clause against teachers.
It appears that those FAR-RIGHT ACTIVIST ORGANIZATION rallies serve as warnings to conservatives who might question Smith's leadership.
Smith uses "activist organization" as a derogatory. It's not. People have the right to organize and bargain as a group.
She villifies teachers & LGBTQ+ groups while convoy-type "activist organizations" are mobilized whenever she's under pressure: There are "freedom" rallies at the Ab Leg during
Smith skirted the issue during her campaign. Her supporters defended her by saying she was related to someone who was LGBTQ+, therefore she can't be prejudiced against the group.
Most Albertans do not want this hostility towards trans people.
I'm glad Elizabeth May asked this question.
And I appreciate that the PM provided an answer.
Because it sounds like a case of NIMBY.
Edmontonians seem unbothered when social disorder is concentrated in the downtown core. We need to find "creative solutions" when it's in Chinatown. But if it's elsewhere - then the option of ending a shelter's lease is presented as an option.
Of course social disorder needs to be addressed. But this part worries me:
"...potential options to transition service to a new model or alternative location, with no further lease extensions at the current site once the existing agreement expires."

Yeah. He seems promising. But (to me) a political party can't be shouldered by one person. Maybe that's why I never understood the extreme (good & bad) emotions directed at Trudeau.
I have tremendous respect for Elizabeth May. But I'm not a one issue voter, so I've never voted Green.
I was aware of the "natural" & anti-vax overlap. But, I just never made the connection to the Greens. In Alberta, that ground is covered by the UCP (Smith was promoting naturapathic stuff).
I guess the lesson is, as always, to think critically.
Thanks for the informative discussion.
I did not know all this about the Greens. Thanks.
I think I expected them to be left of the NDP. So, I always experience cognitive dissonance when I hear about a local Green candidate's economic, social, or international policy position.
IMO there were 2 important developments:
1) Coke vs Pepsi VM interoperability. So much soda geyser data corruption before this.
2) The updates and workarounds that had to be completed before the great bottle to can conversion. A lot of people worked very long hours to avert disaster.
"The problem is that public money could be spent fighting this or settling this," Sir Craig said, adding that Trump doesn't "understand the BBC, how it is funded or how it works". "
This way of thinking makes you vulnerable. It totally misses the point. For one thing - Trump doesn't care.
Their reactions makes me think that whatever's in there, it must be so horrible that it's beyond the imagination of regular people.

Him running as an independent & then supporting Trump was all because the Dems didn't make him feel important enough.
"...if they saw symptoms, (were) able to get it addressed right away."
How are people supposed to address their symptoms?
Isolation. Smith can't even say the words: "isolate" and "quarantine".
Avoiding talking about vaccines & quarantines are what got us into this mess.
I'm sorry for your loss.

I lived in a village where cows would walk towards, then chase people in a - not fun - way.
So... there's also that possibility.
I watched that Martha Stewart doc a few months ago. Comey was also the prosecutor in her case. One person recounted how he was offered leniency if he provided comprising info on Stewart.
It made me wonder if he had something against powerful women.
That was aimed to help keep the economy afloat. So, are these cuts designed to get the PS back to pre-pandemic levels, or are they much, much deeper? Plus, will the Feds be respectful of collective bargaining rights?
14.11.2025 02:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I think it's ok to thoughtfully criticize the government even if you vote for them.
These public sector cuts are difficult to fully understand. We know that Trudeau had to build the PS back up after all the Harper cuts. Then there was a ton of hiring when COVID struck +
Public sector unions tend to be centered in Canada.
The private sector ones - can have their origins and headquarters in the US.
Wow!
You know who talks like this?

Yes, and it's not impossible.
I'm thinking of the "Varsity Blues" scandal.
What's the opposite of virtue? Defect?
Is this another one of Musk's - defect signalling?
Oh, but if his financial & political backers are implicated...
If those people have families who will disown them, country clubs who will shun them, company shareholders who will vote them out...
Then suddenly, Trump becomes vulnerable too.
