I think it may be an effort to hide something that might be seen from the air. Something bad. One reason they might have lifted the closure is that they were able to hide or "resolve" the issue.
I understand the feelingโespecially based on signaling from congressional dems. But there are still people who care. I care. We're all still watching and organizing and contributing. We know it's not over.

But Trump is losing โ and itโs because of the organizing work youโre doing.

09.02.2026 22:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I find myself agreeing with plenty of what you're saying, but I still think that posts like the original, while maybe emotionally satisfying, are generally unproductive.
The establishment can't really scold people into voting for them. Better to look at messaging and policy. We can do better.
Every day, my friend. First thought that enters my mind when I wake.
09.02.2026 15:58 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Actually, I'd say entitlement to rule and hostility to criticism for the ordained candidate are principles of the right wing.
I also find it hilarious that merely fostering a critical thought is crime enough in your eyes to have me lumped in with the right. I donโt sufficiently love Harris enough.
My problem is that this narrative of the "Gaza non-voter" is damaging (as well as generally untrue). It's harmful to coalition building. I see it frequently. I even understand the place it comes from, emotionally. I see great risks to perpetuating it, though, such as running bad candidates in 2028.

09.02.2026 14:40 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Honestly you should do your best to ignore these guys. Their whole contribution to politics is exasperated cynicism and left-bashing. It can't be their mid candidate underperforming. It can only be our fault. Meanwhile, I vote in every election and organize with pro-democracy groups. This guy posts.
09.02.2026 14:38 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Just want to point out that this guy is just writing fan-fiction now. I've voted dem in every election I've been eligible to vote in. At the same time, I've criticized bad policy. You should be able to do both in a democratic society.
09.02.2026 14:23 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0She ran with republican messaging and proposed no policies to address genocide in Gaza or the economic crisis at home. The "joyful warrior" may sound great, but it doesn't drive turnout. People want a reason to vote for her. I wanted one, too. We can be both pragmatic and critical.
09.02.2026 14:15 โ ๐ 14 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I keep seeing this narrative where uninspiring candidates are owed fealty by voters like some hostage situation. I didn't like Kamala's campaign. I voted for her. I have plenty of lefty friends who voted for her. If we're criticizing a candidate, it may be because we want them to do/say good things.

09.02.2026 13:14 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The authoritarian right has no cultureโand must steal, appropriate, or suppress culture. Without real cultural power, it fails to convince the people, and must instead rule with force and lies. But lies erode with time and education, and force is never sufficient to keep people quiet.
