The Plumber's Grandkid

Someone I follow (not the illustrious Dreyer) was posting recently how simulating reading = reading, so we shouldn't say that gen AI can't read,* and I desperately want everyone (esp that guy) to read John Searle's Chinese Room paper.

*We also can't say that it _does_ read. Depends on "read."

This one got me. He deserved so, so much better.

So I had a big idea about how the Democrats could have jumped on this. I still have it. It would cost a little money, mostly human-hours, but it could scale and expand the big tent. Everyone with political connections I talked to about it said nah, we don't community organize. So I dropped it.

To my critics who say that my position urging Democratic governors to redrawing maps is simply a race to the bottom, I say this:

The only thing Donald Trump understand is overwhelming force. We shouldn't bring knives to a gun fight, we should be missiles. Unilateral disarmament is not an option.

Bobby is up to his neck in debt and makes money from selling books about vaccine denialism and suing vaccine makers. So it's a bunch of different things. He could at least have the decency to let the rest of us have cures he wants to reject.

I'm thinking about how many of these rules were violated by The Wire, Succession, etc. But Bezos means "moneymaker" when he says "successful."

Literally came here to muse aloud about which country I want to expatriate to. If Democrats had an ounce of the courage of Elias, I would feel very different about deciding to find a new home. As it is, I think I'll go back and get another degree, this time in something New Zealand will want.

(I had been surprised about some strategic choice. Seemed like overwhelming force when that wasn't needed. I was looking at military strategy like it was a movie plot or an audit spreadsheet, like economy of force was an end in itself. I had forgotten the real-world objective.)

Anyway, when all of this started, I kept saying that you have to always look at these new technologies through the contempt that the tech world has for labor, and their campaign to destroy anything they can get their hands on for a bit more money. Human deskilling, not flourishing, is their goal.

Once/while we undo Citizens United, we require companies revise their articles of incorp, etc, so that their primary purpose is to provide services/products then to provide jobs and benefits. Shareholders get bumped to afterthought status.
