Remember the BLS also calculates the inflation (the CPI) and a host of other price indices. This role requires confirmation from the Senate, so perhaps there is hope we can avoid an unforced error in the expertise behind our economic data.

But E.J. Antoni is completely unqualified to be BLS Commissioner. He is an extreme partisan and does not have any relevant expertise.

He would be a break from decades of nonpartisan technocrats.
