I'm opposed to hierarchy, but I'm not against order. I think there's a directly democratic, people-lead way to run society that doesn't place anyone above anyone else. It's hard to imagine society without centralized infrastructure, but it needs to be run by society itself and not an "elite" few.

I don't think we're in disagreement here, it's that the people at the DMV don't get to decide how they operate either. I'd assume that most people in OPM don't want it to be doing what it's doing, or the workers of USAID wouldn't want it shut down. They also don't have a choice in the matter.

"We" meaning "the general population." Organization should be a democratic process. I have no say in where my taxes go, what projects are implemented, and who is running them. I wouldn't personally choose to have the bulk of my taxes go to the military when schools need funding, for example.

I think a lot of the anti-establishment arguments are misconstrued. Organization and establishment are great if they're run by the people they benefit. The fact that we have no say in how they work and where our money goes is the problem.
