Yeah that's probably true too, given omnivory and all that. Still my wife and I made our go-to one pot red lentil soup the other day and despite its simplicity I think that recipe punches well above its weight

It's collider bias! People abandon recipes that are more laborious but no tastier than simpler recipes. Recipes only survive if they're simple but tasty enough or complex but worth the added effort.
