The solution to homelessness is to give people homes. The idea proposed i. This article does not do that.

And another thing! The article says that Utah is going to spend $75 million to build a camp that can house up to 1,300 people. That translates to $56,000 or so per resident. That would mean dormitory style living a/k/a a “flophouse”. It isn’t permanent housing.

The solution outlined in this article and also touted across the country is to hide the problem in camps away from everyone else. It won’t solve the problem, because our economy will continue to create more homeless people who will not have a place to live.

Homelessness in America is a direct result of our economy. It produces friction because the sight of homeless people confronts citizens with evidence that our economy doesn’t work for everyone.
