Review: Aotearoa YA that rivals The Hunger Games - The Sapling
Steph Matuku’s latest YA novel grapples with themes of enforced migration, loss, societal expectations, and coloniser violence. Ceridwyn Roberts describes it as ‘unputdownable’, a match for The Hunger...
My book 'Migration' just got a supersonic review on 'The Sapling' and I'm stoked, cos books are fkn hard and take ages and you never really know if what you're doing is worth it, or if you should chuck it in for a real job and then you could afford the good peanut butter, or whatever

I was in awe! There was so much more I frothed over in this collection too. None of the props were harmed 😂

Minor brag. I’ve seen some of the props from this film in person. Had VIP access to a private collection on one of my LA adventures. I wasn’t allowed to take pictures though.

Hold up! When did Pop Tarts become a normal retail supermarket product in NZ? I must’ve missed the memo.

I watched the “internet super highway” grow from its infancy. Full of potential in the late 90s. Only to sadly witness it develop into the adult equivalent of a train wreck.

No disagreement from me. I wish I’d never seen it. I sense you must feel the same. Haven’t seen Kill List, but even if it’s a more palatable take on the ending, I don’t think I want to see that either.

I agree. It can’t be unseen. Reiterating I don’t think anybody should. I had the misfortune of having it scar my mind soon after its initial release in 2010.

This is classified as a Horror, but saying it’s ‘scary’ could be misunderstood. It’s horrifying, gory, disturbing, violent and obscene in extreme ways. It’s content can’t be unseen. I advise extreme caution if you even consider watching “A Serbian Film”. I’m not suggesting anyone watches it.
