The whitewashing begins, I actually think a big driver for this β€˜peace’ deal was to protect Israel from total ostracisation on the global stage, they should still be punished and made to account for their genocide

TikTok doesn’t want the platform being used for journalism - even thought users expect to access it there.

A Paris β€œSchool Street” where cars are removed and people space/tree planting are added

According to the City of Paris, in the last 10 years 150K trees have been planted & 45ha of parks created in the already hot city, all intended to not only improve quality-of-life today, but also help the city adapt to & manage summer heatwaves of 50℃ (122F) by 2050.

Just the start.

Common sense.

Not many actual flags, but people have been painting the England flag round here (E11) on walls and post boxes, but luckily Waltham Forest council are being very quick to remove them when reported

Yes, the "progressive alliance" idea in earlier elections failed, Labour wouldn't even stand aside (or even just not campaign) in Brighton Pavillion. Hence Green policy last time of standing everywhere and campaigning anywhere with a good chance - and successfully

I remember back in the 00s seeing something in Private Eye where a company had paid for something at the Labour Conference in order to ultimately benefit from policy, and it cost them Β£5k - I couldn't believe it was so cheap.

You might ask: what kind of country has a racist far right that is mostly the deliberate creation of its top-selling newspapers, who use it to advance their own interests at the public’s huge expense? And the answer is: Britain. That type of shit is absolutely standard, in Britain.

Someone on the radio just now referred to Labour's 'campaign' against Reform and that's just it: they're supposed to be *governing*, not campaigning, especially against a party with only 4 MPs. I despair.

September may have brought us a new season, colder weather and colourful leaves but that’s not all. The month also gave us lots of exciting wins for nature, planet and people.

But also amusing is that the 80s computer adventure game "The Philosopher's Stone" was released by Potter Programs...

Unless the government introduces PR, there will be a far right government in power in 2029. And like the compliant liberals they always were, the Labour party are building the administrative tools to help those fascists round you and your friends up for deportation. Frightening.

But Godwin's law was about people arguing about things online - that an argument on any mundane subject would end up with people calling each Nazis if it went on for long enough.
It was never about the calling out or not of actual fascism

'civil discourse' - When you say you want a group of people dead just because they're not born like you, but you don't swear when you do it.

Mad that there will be fewer arrests after this than when a bunch of pensioners and nuns stand quietly with a sign.

A big part of why white centrist journos can call this a tragedy with a straight face is because to them it is; Kirk etc pose no viable harm to them, their interests, their fetishisation of 'robust debate' and both sidesery - this violence thus feels realer than the violence Kirk's views embodied

every time there's political violence discourse i think about how jo cox was assassinated in broad daylight by a fascist who shouted "britain first" as he shot her, and now nine years later her party is dedicating every moment in power to placating the ideology of her murderer

I feel like maybe this berserk, omnidirectional ultraviolence was perhaps a predictable consequence of providing genocidal ethnic fascists with unlimited hi-tech weaponry and 100% impunity

Should be illegal to have roads without provision for pedestrians, so much of the country is inaccessible without a car

For all the years that Linehan had been *obsessively* targeting trans people (such that he’s been in court over it, he’s been warned be police over it, he’s lost his career and family over it…) the media have never shown *any* interest in speaking to his victims. None. Zero. They simply don’t care

The British media's reporting on Linehan omits this fact:

Going to repeat myself here. One of my old lady opinions is that every anti-vaxxer should be required to sit down and do 100-150 years of their personal genealogy, so they can see a couple generations worth of children's deaths due to preventative childhood diseases.

Please to enjoy this frog-faced Lord Haw Haw-ing shitstack getting emptied out on live TV in the US, a refreshing change from the soft-scoop treatment he's used to receiving during his regular appearances on UK broadcast media.

Graham Linehan

If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.

The speed with which Labour came to the, at least implied, defence of Linehan, despite a track record of abuse and threats from him, exemplifies just how embedded the dehumanisation of trans and non-binary individuals has become as government policy. They really don't care who gets hurt.
