I’ve been going through that lately with a couple of my projects too. Dunno if this helps, but I’ve been trying to work on the deadline project first then treat the fun project as my reward for making *any* progress.

I had good luck going to comic and tabletop game stores and just playing games with folks. Might take a couple visits to build up a regular rapport, and possibly interest/investment in a game one otherwise might not play.
