I canβt sit still long enough for gel removal π
You might be able to do regular polish stamping over gel, which should be more forgiving for mistakes. You can also do nail art with acrylic paints which you can scrape away with a toothpick if you mess up. Then top coat with a light hand.
Thereβs a lot of tough things happening right now, but can we just take a second to highlight the pure joy that comes with cool data or a good science discussion?
Taking that small win home with me today.
Do you ever wear normal polish? Or always gel? My weekend reset usually includes a regular polish mani - Holo Taco holds up well for me on the lab, and their top coat dries fast enough that I can do my nails before bed. Nail stamping is another option for fun designs.

Probably could have taken the whole class
Anyway. 10/10 would recommend
Yes, I think for most of today. Very frustrating and itβs making me nervous.

I use genome editing to study sex differences in liver lipid #metabolism, intestinal lipid handling, and cardiometabolic disease.
In the nonscience world, you can find me reading, baking treats, and drinking coffee.

The non-science thing I learned this year was espresso. This is now my favorite way to make coffee, but came with a huge learning curve. Latte art is difficult but makes me look forward to my latte. Espresso tonics with some citrus juice are also lovely.

14.11.2024 00:51 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβve written a few small grants, but tonight is the first time Iβve finished one independently. I can actually look at it and think, βYeah, I did that!β
Even if Iβm not 100% happy with it, it is progress!
A photo of someoneβs hand holding an iced coffee drink in front of an espresso machine. The coffee has dark, milky, and foamy layers.
I think because of science, I tend to enjoy hobbies that are very protocol-driven. I also really love espresso and espresso drinks. Hereβs my first shaken espresso on my new setup - I find iced drinks more forgiving if I donβt have the grind quite right!
17.02.2024 18:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hi friends! It's time to start building my network here!
I'm a postdoctoral scholar at UCLA. I study lipids and atherosclerosis using AAV and genome editing in the liver.
I love chatting science and sometimes share what I'm up to - I'd love to connect!
