Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center Fred Hutch is dedicated to the elimination of cancer and related diseases as causes of human suffering and death.

My awesome Drosophila colleague Akhila Rajan at Fred Hutch (Seattle) is recruiting both a staff scientist and a postdoc to study fat–brain communication, innate immunity, mitochondrial signaling, and brain senescence. Great team, great environment. Apply here: careers-fhcrc.icims.com/jobs/30062/j...

Lipid droplets: Open questions and conceptual advances around a unique organelle | Journal of Cell Biology | Rockefeller University Press Henne and Prinz discuss the lipid droplet field and pervasive questions surrounding droplets and their roles in physiology and disease.

A pleasure to write this short review on lipid droplets for
@jcb.org together with Will Prinz and amazing artist Emma Reynolds!

We discuss 5 pervasive questions surrounding these remarkable little lipid organelles.

Hi Claudia! Probably the best tools for this are the DGAT inhibitors. There are specific inhibitors for DGAT1 and DGAT2. Adding both to cell at the same time is an effective way to inhibit TAG biosynthesis and thus LD biogenesis.

Protein-responsive gut hormone tachykinin directs food choice and impacts lifespan - Nature Metabolism The gut hormone tachykinin (Tk) is found to be regulated by protein intake in flies and mice. In flies, Tk is shown to impact food choices, sleep and lifespan.

Really interesting work identifying Drosophila gut hormone tachykinin, which influences appetite, sleep, and lifespan.
