I find this account much more compelling than the one focusing on e-readers. I, for one, will always choose a mass-market paperback. I just like them more. But they are almost impossible to find!

Current ScholarshipMoney and the Making of the American Revolution Andrew David Edwards

🚨Scholarship! Andrew Edwards's new book explores the monetary roots of the American Revolution. Uncovering an often forgotten history, it shows how debates about who could make money and how, as well as the distributional implications of those choices, shaped colonists' claims to self-determination.

Finally got around to listening to it, and this is the best podcast episode I've listened to in ages! Best analysis I've seen of AI and global politics hands down.

Just as I enjoy times when I have no access to the web and am forced to just read a book undistracted, many students really appreciate being given an excuse to focus on something difficult, and to engage with it directly.

Not a fan of the Atlantic, but this article is just fantastic. The most common comment in my student reviews has been that they enjoyed where I taught socratic method with no slides. (Big caveat: I do very nice, supportive socratic! There are no attempts to embarass students in my method!)

The Montreal Canadiens are playing the Minnesota Wild in Minneapolis tonight. The players have been recommended to stay in/eat at the hotel, take the team bus to the arena, and carry passports.

Perhaps we shouldn't be hosting the World Cup and the Olympics...

Central bank experts help! CBs are typically the state's fiscal agent. What CBs do NOT play this role? I know the ECB is different. I've been told Chile's CB is as well. Others? @nathantankus.bsky.social @proufos.bsky.social @csissoko.bsky.social @petercontibrown.bsky.social @benbraun.bsky.social
