I ordered an espresso at an intense café in Inchicore and they brought out this digital thermometer rig, which was a fun surprise. "Start at 50° but 45° would really be the peak". I drank it in 2 gulps at 44° 👍

The horror of the colonies is front and centre as is the evil of language. The desire to do something and believe in humanity kills many characters throughout. The prose is incredible, truly a miracle. Modern and ornate whole being clear about what it is getting across (boats suck).

Longish excerpt from Eden's Shore about redemption for the human race after slavery. It is not hopeful.

Eden's Shore by Oisín Fagan is startling and extremely painful to read especially so in light of the ICE murders. It's a continued expansion of the narrative scale from Hostages to Nobber.
