A Thames invader! A mosaic made from pottery sherds I found on the Thames foreshore. #mudlarking

If I could ban Microsoft from doing one thing (just one?!) it would be their use of the word tenant.

Sometimes the yagi in your loft just happens to be pointing the right way - getting Italians and (a first for me) Tunisians! #fmdx #dx #dxing

Final memory was that my evening listening was done on a small white clock radio with red LED clock up on the top bunk of my cabin bed with me. I have weird recollections of it always seeming to show 10:24pm as I nodded off...

I also distinctly remember buying a brand of prune juice specifically because of the ads on talkradio during James Whale's shows at some point. Clearly I was susceptible to his brand of radio as well as the ads that surrounded it! The prune juice was, of course, absolutely disgusting.

Oddly clear memories of listening to James talk to a rep from London firm Spymaster(?) about their espionage gadgets, and me then ordering a catalogue of their in the post at a time early enough in my life that me getting official-looking post really made my mum curious.

Weirdly enough, James Whale was one of the first radio DJs I remember listening to regularly. Along with his 10pm show on talkradio (as was), I was also an avid listener of Chris Moyles' late night shows on Capital around the same time. Tweens me was drawn to demi shock jocks, it seems!

Thanks! It was, but I have been reminding myself how tmux works and I think I get it...

Thanks! I keep forgetting about tmux but have briefly looked at it in the past. On another platform a friend said they have theirs set to attach on login which seems smart.

That's really cool to see. On a related note, I still wonder at the origin of this one-sided (acetate? Lacquer? it's heavy) record I picked up years ago - I'm assuming a test pressing from the studio but I've never been able to figure out who it was for or why or how many there might be out there.

My wife is delighted that I sent her a screenshot of this. We (I) have a running gag every two years when we watch a major football tournament where I frequently joke about glugging down an unspecified vessel of Grifols. πŸ˜…

Great on the name change!

Received mine today and VERY EXCITED.

My black one came with a white strap which was... Unexpected! But quirky.

Just made a version of this, though regrettably using red onion instead of shallots because three shops I tried didn't have any somehow? Anyway very happy all the same.

I'm genuinely not familiar with M P-W. Surely he's played by Chris Morris in this? Particularly where he's flipping fish over. Surely...

This is amazing. Thanks! Also, absolutely making his anchovy shallot sandwich tomorrow.

I have been immensely amused at how bad it is as a help file / companion for actual Microsoft software and services. It either has to resort to web searches or gives advice based on when it was last updated which, when I last queried it, was some time in 2023. I gave up and now use chatgpt for that.

And today a poorly little bear has altered our plans and means I am stuck on the sofa - but at least there's a decent stage of the Tour de France about to begin on ITV4...!

Last night's storm was pretty intense. About 35mm rain all told and lots of flashes and big thunder. At times the rain was so heavy and whipped around by the wind it almost looked like mist. Huge.

Channels 1-12: PMR channels 1-12.
13: F5ZTP - a French repeater I can sometimes hear and open
14: 70cm calling frequency
15: GB7ZE - local repeater
16: scans all channels in memory

Looking forward to testing this out! They're so small and light. And there's two of them!

Picked up some cheap Baofeng BF-88E PMR walkie talkies on Vinted for a tenner and was delighted to find them basically brand new and complete with chargers and headsets. Even better they are programmable in CHIRP so I've managed to add my local 70cm repeater iluding CTCSS tones and it works!
